First introduced at the 1991 Frankfurt Show, the
all-wheel-drive Audi Avus had projected performance figures that seem
amazing even today. The car featured a 6 liter W-12 engine (with 3
banks of 4 cylinders) and 5 valves per cylinder. Output was 509
bhp @ 5800 rpm, and 398 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm. The body was finished in
unpainted aluminum. Estimated top speed was 211 mph, with 0-60
appearing in an incredible 2.9 seconds.
