The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR was built
to tackle the international sports car circuit in the late 1990s.
Although it saw continued success, victory at Le Mans, the crown jewel
of sports car racing, continued to elude this immensely powerful
machine. In 1998 and 1999, 25 roadgoing versions were built as a
homologation effort by AMG. These cars sold in the vicinity of $1.5
million dollars each.
