1985 H&R Springs BMW 535i Rusty Slammington

Jump to Images

It doesn't get any cooler than this. The Rusty Slammington started life as a 1985 BMW 535i, and from there the story gets wilder and wilder. Creator Mike Burroughs shortened the 535i's wheelbase by a foot and made a Group 5 widebody design built on DOM Tube chassis. The suspension includes H&R coilovers front and rear, inboard mounted and pushrod actuated.

The engine is a 3.5 liter S38 inline-6 from a 1988 BMW M5 that has been expanded to 3.7 liter. The engine has a high 14:1 compression ratio with forged rods and pistons, a performance camshaft from Cat Cams in Belgium, Life Racing ECU, a full PFM Autosport exhaust system, a Peterson dry sump oil system, ported and polished heads with oversized valves, and 48 mm ported throttle bodies. The fule is handled with Bosch 044 inline pumps and stored in an ATL fuel cell with a Nuke Performance surge tank.

Visually, the Rusty Slammington combines customizing and racing traditions from both sides of the Atlantic into one very unique and original car.
