Back in 1986, Lamborghini built its first SUV, the LM002. A rugged and functional 4x4 that resembled nothing else in the Lamborghini lineup, the LM002 was a somewhat obscure model that in most markets was completely overshadowed by contemporary sports cars like the Countach, though they were popular among wealthy clients in the Middle East. Production ended in 1993 after 328 of them were built. The Urus SUV is stylistically quite different from the LM002, a much sportier vehicle that is more recognizably a Lamborghini, though it also shares some design cues with Audi, the division of the Volkswagen Group that controls Lamborghini. Where the LM002 used a naturally aspirated V12 sourced from the Countach, the Urus utilizes a 4 liter V8 with twin turbochargers putting out 650 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The Urus has a curb weight of less than 4850 lbs, which is quite impressive given the SUV body type, the AWD system, and all that power. 0-62 mph is achieved in a mere 3.6 seconds, and a top speed of 190 mph is achievable. The 4WD allows for active torque vectoring through a rear differential, with power distributed to each individual wheel as need for maximum traction and control. This is combined with rear wheel steering for improved agility and stability at high speeds. Price in the United States will be $200,000. Image Credits Lamborghini.
